Are Emotional Barriers Impacting Your Life?
What Is Pain Trying To Say?
Pain is the consequence of an imbalance within the body. There are three causes for imbalances… Stress, stress and stress.
Physical stress. The body was designed to move, correctly. Having proper posture and keeping active helps. If there is excessive strain, especially if it is repetitive, it can cause discomfort, pain or injury.
Many people hold stress in their neck and shoulders. Waking up tense, spending the day tense then going to bed tense does not allow the body time to rejuvenate. That is a problem. The body heals and restores itself in parasympathetic mode, “rest & repair”.
Nutritional stress. There are over 7 billion people on earth, each one different. What your body needs to work optimally is unique. Food is the fuel we use to get energy. Finding the nutrients that help you feel your best is important. What food is the best fuel for your body? I recommend working with a naturopath or holistic nutritionist if you don’t know.
Emotional stress is a result of your mind diligently focusing on current life events, opportunities, obstacles, challenges and concerns to find their solution while dealing with other distractions; including your life collection of emotion that the body has in storage to help you avoid what has previously caused anxiety, overwhelm, shame, guilt, heartache, etc.
It has been established that the body has an immune system to help protect from disease. In my practice, I’ve come to understand, we also have an emotional immune system. It acts like a computer, storing your entire life story… the good or bad; awake or asleep.
You know when you hear a song from your teenage years or a certain scent like baking or cologne that brings back a pleasant memory making you smile? A trauma trigger works like that, only it brings back the feelings (or flashbacks), like: fear, panic or grief rather than the things you enjoy remembering.
Your body knows you. It is also aware that if a memory is brought back to the conscious mind it would be at risk of being removed. Blocking trauma in the subconscious mind protects the triggers… but it can also cause discomfort in all areas of life.
In today’s world, stress has been a constant for so long, it has become normal. Worry can show up for what seems like no reason. Why is that?
When emotion gets trapped, without any obvious explanation for it … that’s when your body is remembering what your mind has forgot. It can hold onto a heartbreaking memory that consumes your daily thoughts, making it feel like you are living life on repeat, it seems like you can’t move past it.
It would be wonderful if it could be talked out; but, how do you talk about something you can’t remember? Then what? It is common for me to hear clients say:
“I’ve been through all the tests, they show nothing”. Emotional pain can cause physical distress. That doesn’t mean it is “in your head”. If you are feeling it, it is obvious the dis-ease is causing a problem.
I highly recommend doing everything you can to get a confirmed diagnosis from some sort of medical equipment. Being diagnosed with “I think it is” or “I don’t know” is not good enough. You need to know what you are fighting.
If you have been through every test and there are still no answers, I call that pain with purpose. The body can use pain to try to get your attention… if you can understand what it is trying to remind you of, you can finally let it go, and life can change.
“I’ve been in counselling for years and I don’t feel better”. How do you talk about something you can’t remember? Finding the source of the problem, rather than battling the symptom, is important in the healing journey.
These sessions do not diagnose conditions, they give insight to the thoughts, reactions and habits that can influence dis-ease in the body. We then understand them and let them be released in a safe environment.
